Feeling more like Christmas

Like everyone, we love the traditions of Christmas, the lights, the smells, the music. We are usually all decked out by now. We've been a little slower this year. I misplaced most of our decorations. So we improvised on a budget.

If you ask two little girls their color preferences you end up with a pretty girlie tree. We made some accordion fan flowers to fill in the holes of our missing ornaments. Of course after all that work we found the missing ones, but decided to keep the flowers lest we face a riot from the girls.

This was totally my siblings and I 25 years ago. I miss them all especially this time of year.

Two years ago we started a new tradition. We wrap up 25 Christmas books, some about Christ's birth and some about Santa or other Christmas stories. We open one a night until Christmas. Many of them are library books, so we have our familiar favorites and some fun new ones.

Do you have any Christmas traditions you love?

I love the tree! I would make that a new tradition! Our newest tradition is to have an envelope on the tree of all the "good" we did during the holiday season. We open that up christmas morning before gifts and remember the reason for the season. Ken and the kids always make Christmas bread, too.

I love it! Great job on the tree. I miss our big family parties we had on Christmas Eve back in the day.

I love the tree! Tysha and I still need to decorate ours. It is in the house just not decorated yet. I am sure we will get to it sometime!!! I love the pictures of the girls looking at the tree. It reminds me of my sister and myself when we were young. Loved sitting by the tree and reading by the lights on the tree. We had a few traditions, caroling to the neighbors, making candy, breads and visiting w/neighbors. Of course drawing names and opening them on Christmas eve. Reading the Christmas story on Christmas morning before opening presents. Just a few of the traditions. Miss you and love you all.
